You don't usually see a quietly contemplating monkey, which is why this Macaque stood out to me against all the others in Lauceston City Park in Tasmania. He wasn't even disturbed when my little cousin jumped up and down to try and get his attention. He was just staring off, lost in his own thoughts, absently fiddling with his hands - just like any human would do. And this oval board just seemed to fit his pose perfectly.

It's true. I'm a little obsessed with frogs. You should probably expect more frog pieces to come - especially since it's now spring so it's won't be long and they'll be everywhere!
This little guy used to plaster himself on our back glass door every night. When all the other little frogs would get very still and try to 'disappear' when you walked past, this particular frog would boldly turn his head around and just stare right at you. He had a lot of character, so I hope he'll be around again soon. (It wasn't as fun to draw him on a glass door though).

My largest piece to date - though I may have cheated, since it's made up of 16 of my 'usual-sized' boards. It took a very long time to finish - lots of standing on tabletops to see if I had it all aligned, lots of pencils demolished, and lots of stressing when it was finally getting glued together. Overall, there are 5 separate levels in this piece, and as usual, the background is ink, while the animal is coloured pencil.
I'm a Leo so I'm partial to big cats. As much as I'd love to say I found this lady on safari, no - I saw her at the zoo. She just had such a stare. Everyone else got bored and moved on when she didn't do something 'interesting', but I just stared right back. She was beautiful. One day I'll draw her mate.

I've wanted to add some colour to something black ever since I drew the pup, and I couldn't go past a gorilla. I love how something so strong can still be so gentle.

I'd like to be able to say that this plant is growing my backyard - I'd love it if it was - but no, I found it up Mount Tambourine. Very unusual. I want one!! [click to view larger, clear image]

Love these birds. They're pretty much just a jumping, skittish little ball of feathers, with too-long legs and a stick-up tail, but oh so cute. Poor little things, they get chased by the boys, when they're just trying to get their bug-breakfast at the back of the house. They're not as pretty as the boys though. The background was inspired by my puppy piece.
