Don't you love it when your cheapy-cheap-cheap impulse buys turn out not to be complete trash?
That's how this one turned out. An art board and a booklight. 5 bucks each and SWEET. Now I can pick whatever comfy chair in the house to curl up in to get some art done and I can actually SEE too. That place is currently the hand-me-down futon in the loungeroom. Wow it looks like CRAP but oh is it comfy. It also means that I don't have to worry about damaging my background by handling it so much, since this super-huge rubber band happily holds it for me. AND it sounds cool when you flick it. Bonus.
So if you see a dodgy, oversized clip-board like thing shoved in a corner of a shop like I did, get it! So useful. I'm really fighting the urge to draw all over it. But then of course that would squash the usefulness factor because then I wouldn't want to ruin my artwork. I just love this natural cardboard colour. I'd love a visual diary with nice thick pages like this. Ever seen one? At the moment I'm thinking of just collecting some cardboard scraps and binding one myself. Could be fun.
I also finished the frog this morning. It didn't go as well as planned (the fixative seemed to suck the black inked grid to the surface of the coloured pencil) but it's no point in re-working it to death. And I want to move on to something new!
Ok. Lunch. See ya!
