I just shouldn't have gone anywhere near my artwork yesterday. I didn't even get to it until the end of the day, but everything went wrong. Hence no Wednesday post, sorry.
1. Just as I was finishing painting the reflection in the eye on the piece I was working on, the dog barked, so I jumped ridiculously high and swiped white paint accross the face. Awesome.
2. Sometime while I was cooking dinner a big moth bomb-dived and army-rolled accross the face of the same piece. In wet paint. By the time I found it, the paint wasn't wet anymore so the moth was well and truly stuck there - it's now-bright-yellow legs dried solid and pointing to the sky. Of course then when I tried to remove it the wings stayed there. They're still there this morning. That's my project for later. I like mixed media, but bug bits are not included. Not as bad as when a gecko crapped accross the possum's face though.
3. I'd finally finished the spider. My first go with Prismas. I thought I was going to smash it out in less than an hour but it took me a fair bit longer because I had to get used to how they reacted, compared to the coloursofts. I was happy with it though. Then I used too much fixative on it, didn't I? And it sucked the inked circles up through the white spider. Sometimes this kind of thing ends up being a happy accident. This, however, just plain looked like crap. So this morning I had to sand back bits of the body and start again. It's finally fixed now though.
I started with this background, from a fair while ago:
And now it looks like this:
This is the first of those 7 bug pieces that I mentioned. The other 6 will come later this month. And the other 7 pieces that I plan to finish this month. All in another 16 days. Hmmm... One down, 13 to go, hey?
And see how my scanner's putting a dark line down one side of my images? I'm not sure what's going on there. Sometimes it's softer and blurred like this, and sometimes it's really dark and defined. If you know of a good scanner for scanning artwork, please let me know. This one eats it.
I'll post early tomorrow to show you what else I get done after I've finished my work today. How is it that Thursday's almost gone?! Craziness.
Oh my goodness! You have awesome persistence. I would've wanted to give up and cry. It turned out really beautiful despite everything that tried to get in the way. :)

Thanks! I'm not sure if it was persistence or silliness! But at least I learnt a few things :)
